DISCRIMINATOR
Plastic (ABS) compasses with scale imprinted on aluminium plate. Two-point discrimination shows the ability to identify that two nearby objects touching the skin are two distinct points and not just one. The test is often performed with two pointed ends during a neurological examination and indicates whether the skin area is correctly innervated. Two-point discrimination is a reliable and widely used technique to identify tactile agnosias. It is based on the patient's ability and/or willingness to subjectively recognise their sensations and should be performed while closing the eyes.
