The BOEL test is the only screening instrument used by paediatricians to judge the hearing faculties of children and allows early verification of the response to a sound stimulus as early as 6 to 10 months of age. The device is based on the classic BOEL test both in terms of its ergonomic shape (it fits in the palm of the hand) and the sound standards of the BOEL test bells. In fact, the two sound stimuli reproduce a low-frequency deaf sound around 125150 Hz and a high-frequency high-pitched sound around 5.05.1 kHz in a manner perfectly equivalent to what is reproduced by the BOEL test bells (86dBA, 96dBA). This makes it possible to test the child's response on these highly significant thresholds. The device is handy, lightweight, battery-powered and has only two buttons for selecting the two test frequencies. For the original Boel's test, we recommend the use of optometric pencils to capture the child's attention, see code 31319.
