Sorbalgon is a calcium alginate dressing.
It consists of natural fibres derived from algae. It is designed to be highly absorbent.
The alginate absorbs wound exudates and forms a gelatinous covering over the wound, maintaining a moist wound healing environment. The gelatinous surface also prevents the dressing from adhering to the wound, so it is painless upon removal.
