Advanced Ionic Silver Dressings

ASKINA® CALGITROL AG+ 10X10 CM
Askina® Calgitrol® Ag+ is an antimicrobial dressing for exuding and infected wounds made of soft, conformable nonwoven fabric based on sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) and cellulose fiber(s) reinforcing silver antimicrobial properties. The silver in the dressings has an antimicrobial effect on a broad spectrum of bacteria present in the wound and retained between the fibers of the dressing. Through gel formation, debris and all bacteria in the wound exudate can be retained within the fibers of the dressing and removed once the dressing is changed.

When dry, Askina® Calgitrol® Ag+ can be easily cut to the size of the wound. Even when the dressing is moist, like a gelled fiber, its structure remains intact.

Key features:
- High vertical absorption capacity of exudate
- Antimicrobial effect given by sustained-release ionic silver
- Maintains a properly moist wound environment
- Protects the wound edge and surrounding skin from maceration
- One-piece removal due to reinforcing cellulose fiber
- Broad antimicrobial spectrum
- Low level of cytotoxicity: only the ionic fragment of silver is released
- Breaks down and destroys biofilm

Indications for use:
- Suitable for all ages
- For moderately to heavily exuding wounds
- For chronic wounds, e.g., leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, and diabetic ulcers
- For surgical injuries, e.g., postoperative injuries and donor sites
- For traumatic injuries, e.g., abrasions and lacerations
- For partial-thickness burns Askina® Calgitrol® Ag+ is composed of a fiber blend that makes it a durable dressing even after contact with wound exudate.
Composition:
- CMC gelling fiber
- Reinforcing cellulose fiber
- Cellulose fiber containing silver nanoparticles

ASKINA CALGITROL PASTE - 15G
Askina® Calgitrol® Paste from B. Braun is a highly conformable dressing based on calcium alginate and silver ions. The filling and tightly adhering ability to the wound bed allows management of bacterial load and exudate in all cases of difficult-to-approach wounds.

The dressing provides broad-spectrum antimicrobial efficacy and helps prevent contamination by external bacteria. In particularly exuding wounds, the alginate paste with ionic silver maintains a moist environment that promotes ideal conditions for natural healing.

The unique, highly conformable paste format of Askina® Calgitrol® Paste is ideal for the management of small fistulas or tunnels in diabetic foot ulcers.

Indications for use.
Easy to apply, Askina® Calgitrol® Paste can be used in the management of infected lesions, particularly for the treatment of full- or partial-thickness lesions, stage I - IV pressure ulcers, venous, arterial and neuropathic ulcers, second-degree burns and sampling sites. Composition
- Calcium alginate: < 5%
- Silver: 11.7 mg/g
- Oils: > 5 %
